Psychological evaluations in immigration proceedings may serve as powerful pieces of evidence to demonstrate hardship that the qualifying relative would suffer if he or she is separated from the applicant or if the qualifying relative leaves the U.S. and re-locates abroad in order to be with the applicant. Reports identify how psychological and medical factors, if any, have relevance to you or your family member’s petition.
In our work with you and your family we will address hardship issues through a thorough evaluation, which includes review of your personal history, medical documents, in depth interview, and psychological testing focusing on the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral issues of relevance to your case. Various mental health factors including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, domestic violence, and post-traumatic stress experiences are all conditions that can be objectively evaluated through examination, the results of which are described within my written report detailing the unique circumstances of the patient that makes him or her particularly vulnerable to hardship. The accurate assessment and communication of these conditions can play a critical role in accurately describing your unique situation to immigration officers.
